Award Nomination

We invite nominations for individuals who have made significant contributions to the promotion, development, preservation, documentation, research, education, technology, or advocacy of Nigerian languages.

This award, the maiden edition, recognises excellence, innovation, leadership, and impact in advancing the use and visibility of Nigerian languages within communities, educational institutions, the media, the creative industries, and the digital ecosystem.

All nominations will be reviewed by an independent panel of assessors based on the significance of the contribution, measurable impact, sustainability, innovation, and overall benefit to Nigerian languages and their speakers.

We call for nominations in four categories:

The Indigenous NLP Excellence Award - Data ✅ For groundbreaking academic or applied research.

• Category: Best Research in Nigerian Language Natural Language Processing

The Emerging Linguist of the Year Award - Tech Innovation ✅ For promising scholars working at the intersection of language and technology.

• Category: Young Researcher of the Year (Under 35)

Tech Product of the Year - Tech Innovation ✅ For localisation tools, keyboards, educational apps, or translation platforms.

• Category: Best App or Platform Supporting Nigerian Languages

The Digital Heritage Preservation Award - Documentation ✅ For digital archives, oral history preservation, or corpus-building initiatives.
